Canal Walk Shopping Centre
Canal Walk is the crown jewel of Century city when it comes to things to do. The shopping centre which was built opened in 2000 is the 3rd largest in Africa and there are tons of activities to keep you busy in the mall. Whether you want to do some serious shopping or just sit back and enjoy a leisurely meal, Canal Walk is an excellent destination to visit. The outdoor scenery is to die for, with the mall designed in a Cape Venetian style that is refreshing and reminiscent of Venice.
With over 400 stores and various leisure locations, you are sure to find something there to suit your taste. There is something for everyone, with regular shopping brands to high end boutique stores for the luxury shopper. The mall operates for extended hours, opening at 9am and closing at 9pm.
Galileo Open Air Cinema
If watching a movie under the open sky sounds like your cup of tea, then you should try out Galileo’s Open Air Cinema. The cinema is hosted at various open air venues around Cape Town and shows classic movies from Wednesday to Saturday the Century leg of the cinema is hosted in Central Park.
The cinema is ideal for couples or small groups and is a unique experience if you are in Century City when the show is in Central Park. Backrests are available for hire and there are vendors selling refreshments. You can also bring you own picnic basket if you are so inclined.

Intaka Island
Intaka Island is a wetland are and bird sanctuary that offers visitors a wide range of fun and educational activities to get up to. Located on the northern side of Century City, the natural feature is a 16 hectare natural area that is home to over 180 Cape native plants and more than 120 species of bird.
Intaka offers some of the best bird watching in the Cape, all in a safe area that is well maintained. There are lapa and picnic facilities available if you want to have a relaxed day at the reserve on your own program. If you want a guided tour, there are tours and educational programmes for day visitors and groups alike. The typical visit includes a guided tour around the island, a ride on the Intaka ferry, and an educational activity.

The entrance fee at the time of writing is R22 per adult, and R13 for children under 12 years and pensioners. The operating times are 7:30am to 7:00pm during the summer and a closing time of 17:30 during the winter.
Go Karting
Go Karting is always a fun activity and will let you tap into your inner speed freak in a safe manner. Century Karting is an indoor go-kart track located inside Canal Walk Shopping Centre. The track is well-built for speed and is a great way to spend an afternoon as a group. You can go for a fun day with the kids or even get fiercely competitive with friends or colleagues.
Century Karting has a fully equipped track with electronic timing and results printouts for bragging rights after leaving your friends in the dust. There is also room for an all round experience with food stores, games and pool tables to add to the experience.
Century Karting is open 7 days a week, from 9am to 9pm from Sunday to Thursday, and until 11pm on Friday and Saturday. They have an arrive and drive option so you don’t have to book beforehand to get to race. There are also different structured races that require booking. Century City Natural Goods Market
Central Park in Century city is home to many events, and Century City Natural Goods Market is one of them. This monthly outdoor event is a fine place for a family outing, especially during The Summer season. As the name suggests, you can expect to find vendors selling artisanal foods and arts and crafts.
There is also a lot of entertainment to keep the little ones occupied such as jumping castles and amusement rides. There are frequently live performances held to entertain the crowd.
So whether you are there to buy some home home-brewed beer or to kick back on the grass to some tines, it is not a bad way to spend a Sunday.
The market is held on every last Sunday of the month, starting at 9am. What’s more, entrance into the market is free to everyone. Situated right next to Canal Walk, it’s the perfect place to finishe of the weekend, unwinding on the lawns of Central Park with the family.
