Riviera Hotel is the true gem of hartenbos accommodation. Staying at this hotel is a sensory experience unlike any. I have stayed at a couple of hotels and accommodation in Hartenbos and Riviera is undoubtedly the best one in the whole town. The views from the deck of the lagoon are priceless.
The hotel offers both hotel and self-catering accommodation. You have a choice of rooms and suits in the hotel, while the self-catering comes in units with 2 or 3 bedrooms. They can each accommodate 4 and 6 adults respectively, with the ability to accommodate 2 children as well in each. A restaurant is available if you don’t want to prepare meals yourself. 
The Riviera has arguably the best views in all of Hartenbos, and the hotel is designed to maximize them. There are viewing decks and benches purposely placed for you to sit back and take it all in. The location of this hotel is very convenient. It is right on the lagoon and everything else is right in reach.
You can walk to the main shopping centre, and the beach is a mere 50m away. If you like peace and quiet, this place is perfect, particularly during the off-season when occupancy is low and it’s almost as if you have the whole place to yourself. If you are in Hartenbos, this is choice number 1. That is if you can find a room when you are looking.

Suidersee
Suidersee is very well-placed location. It is very close to all of the places that you will want to visit like the water park, and the shopping centre that hosts Spur steak ranch and a pizzeria. The venue has excellent service which starts at the reception, where you will be meet with friendly and highly professional service. Suidersee is also very safely secured, with security guards patrolling inside and outside of the place.
The only slight is that parking is in an open area, there is no open parking. The parking is also limited and if it is in high season where there are many guests, you might have an issue with finding parking But the area is completely safe so outside of perhaps a little rain, there is nothing to be concerned for.
Suidersee is surprisingly affordable, considering the value, and you get a lot of bang for your buck with this place. There is a braai area in the complex where you can barbecue. The facility is cleaned daily which is really a nice touch. The rooms are more on the smaller side but they are tastefully furnished. When you find the place, it is spotlessly clean, and daily cleaning is available for you on request.
For the price, they are very good value for money. Everything that you want in Hartenbos is nearby. The shopping centre is right across the road, with the entrance being a mere 50m away. The beach is also just 100m down the road. Sign boards at the venue are in Afrikaans like in Many places in Hartenbos.

Hartenbos Private Game Lodge
Hartenbos Private Game Lodge is a unique one on our list because of the experience it offers. This is where you can get a bush experience in this area that is usually reserved for more beach-like experiences. The lodge is located 13km from the city centre, on a game farm with a large variety of wildlife.
The establishment comprises 3 self-catering villas, and there is a private chef who prepares the most delicious meals. Each room comes with a private viewing deck and is equipped with TV and DSTV.
The villas are purposefully decorated to resemble a camping excursion, with tent material lining the inside of the cottage to make it look like the inside of a tent. For leisure, there is a swimming pool and sauna for you to soak in. There is a boma (enclosure with a fire pit) outside where an open fire is light at night for social gatherings.
The best that this lodge offers is the game drive where ou can see a variety of wild buck, giraffes, zebras and many more animals. It is a very informative excursion and made all the more fun by interaction so be sure to ask questions.

Outeniquabosch Lodge
This one is an a tranquil environment, 7km from the Hartenbos Central. The lodge is on a farm and that is the theme that is carried throughout. It is run by owners, Bertus and Margret who are very hospitable. There are different types of rooms. The most recommended ones are the King or Twin Rooms, or the chalets, both of which come with mountain views. The rooms host a maximum of 2 guests so they are suitable for couples.
This location is ideal for a quiet family getaway. There are farm animals about that include sheep, horses and birds, which all add to the exquisite landscape. The lodge is well-kept and is an ideal place to recharge your batteries. The city centre and coast are all still within driving distance so you are never too far from other points of interest.

Shawheim @ Hartenbos
Shawheim @Hartenbos is a self-catering guest house located in a quiet area. The guest house is located in a neighborhood street that is away from all the traffic. If you are looking for peace and quiet and to just rest yourself then this place is perfect for that.
If you are staying here as a couple, the accommodation here is very affordable. The guest house consists of two self-catering units that each consist of a 2 en-suite bedrooms with a queen bed and 2 single beds, respectively. There is also a bed and breakfast option which is a standard room with a queen size bed and an en-suite bathroom. 
All units come equipped with a flat screen TV with DSTV, and free WiFi is included with the lodging. For relaxation, there is a pool area with loungers and barbecue facilities. Shawheim @ Hartenbos is ideal for a family getaway and the guest house can accommodate up to 14 guests. All the points of interest like the beach and shopping centres are within a 3km radius of the place.

Withuis Hartenbos
Withuis is a self-catering guest house with bright living spaces, that offers accommodation in 4 guest rooms and a three bedroomed apartment.
Rooms offer self-catering accommodation for 1-4 persons, with secure parking, braai area, etc. Â If you are in a large group and on a budget, you can find some good value with the apartment. This unit can accommodate up to 8 people in three en-suite bedrooms. Bedroom 1 has a double bed and baby bed, full bathroom with bath and shower. Bedroom 2 has a queen-size bed and bunk beds and features a bathroom with shower. Bedroom 3 has a queen-size bed and a bathroom with a shower.
The unit also has a fully equipped kitchen as well as a washing machine, which is useful if you are planning to stay for a relatively long vacation. Â It has a private dining and braai area, as well as covered parking in front of the unit behind a security gate.
The location of Withuis is good, with the beach being 100 metres from the guest house. The Hartenbos Seafront and shopping centre is 1km away, which is a 10-minute walk or 2 minutes by car.
What we liked about Withuis is the modern interior and the neatness of the place. There is also free WiFi availale to guests in all of the units. One thing that is missing, though, is Satelite Television (DSTV), so that is something to take into consideration if you like to watch television.
Secure covered parking is limited and for most of the units, you will be parking off street in demarcated parking as is the case for most guest houses in Hartenbos.
All in all, this accommodation is worth your attention if you want an affordable place to stay in with bright and modern décor.
